Tool Shed

Challenges

Cupcake Craft (88) - Don't Be Square
Papertake - Do Something Different (Shaped Card)
C.R.A.F.T. (48) - Shaped Card

Here is something a bit different for me as I usually make square or rectangular cards. I made this card using one of the Glitter Girls embossing boards. The little bear has been decoupaged but you can't see the layers because of the angle of the photo. The trellis and flowers were die-cut with the Cuttlebug and the interior is from a 'shop window' kit that I got ages ago. The lettering was done with rub-ons.

Challenges

Lili Of The Valley (DT Card) - Here Comes The Summer
Friday Sketchers (99) - Sketch

Over at LOTV this week the theme is 'Here Comes The Summer' so I have used one of the new 'Busy Bears' stamps from LOTV and followed the Friday Sketchers sketch. The image (Top Chef) has been coloured with pencils.I love the way the little dog is hoping that the sausage will fall and he can run off with it. The flowers are punched with brad centres.

Challenges

The Sugar Bowl (34) - Sketch & Punches

I made this card using the leftover paper from the previous card, I thought it went quite well with the image. The image has been coloured with pencils. The white piece of cardstock has been embossed with the Cuttlebug. The sentiment is stamped directly onto the card. I punched the flowers from white card and stippled ink onto them so the colour would blend in with the flowers on the image. I think on reflection I should have used a darker bow as this one isn't showing up very well, might change that...

Challenges

Stamp Something - Charmed Somethings
Penny Black (98) - 3 Flowers/2 Buttons/1 Bow
Stamptacular (56) - "Sew" Special
Pollycraft (41) - Make Your Own Flowers
Sketch & Stash (34) - Sketch (Stamp/Paper/Charm)

For this card I have used my friends new PB stamp and paper and a new charm of mine that I won in a blog candy a while ago. I stamped the image and coloured it with pencils and chalks and drew some faux stitching around the edge. I can't tie bows very well so have tied a knot adding a bee charm (hope it counts). I made the flowers by punching daisies from floral paper and layering them adding buttons and brad to the centres. I also placed a brad in the centre of the sentiment. I loved using this sketch and will use it again and I think the green colours have gone together rather well.

Butterflies & Blossoms

Challenges

A Spoonful Of Sugar (100) - Birthday
Simon Says - Things With Wings
Allsorts (49) - Inspiration Photo
Our Creative Corner - Blooming Blossoms

This is an A4 card which I have covered with rainbow paper. I then stamped swirls roughly in an oval shape and stamped the sentiment inside the oval. Having printed and cut out all the flowers I added these with a bit of tacky glue. Next I used alchohol inks onto glossy photo paper to create some background paper. Once this was dry I punched out the butterflies and added these to the flowers. As the card was for a fiftieth birthday I found some wooden numbers and painted them with pearl paints before placing them inside the wreath. Finally I added glitter glue to the flowers and butterflies.

Pansies

Challenges

Dutch Dare (76) - Easel Card + Repeat Something (Buttons)

Here is an easel card which I made a little while ago and have never shown. The pansies are decoupaged from a set of CD's that I got from Create & Craft a couple of years ago and hardly use. I have simply layered this onto green card. The borders have been punched and the sentiment has been stamped and heat embossed. I have repeated the heart shaped buttons on each of the borders and added paper roses to the ones at the top. I can't remember where the paper came from, sorry.

Challenges

One Stop Craft (77) - Metallic

This is an offset gatefold card that I made for a friends birthday using an image by Kanban. I love these elegant ladies but don't use them often enough as I just like to look at them. The image has been simply layered with black and silver mirri card. The flowers are punched with silver brads in the centres. That's it, simples!

Cupcake Craft (87) - Red & White
Forever Friends - Numbers
Doodle Palace - Choose From A List Of Challenges (Too many to list)
Fab 'N' Funky (20) - Get It All Out
A Gem Of A Challenge (3) - Special Birthdays

I have made this card for my nephew's birthday in June and managed to get it to fit quite a few challenges, a challenge in itself. I have followed the great sketch although I planned to use it for a totally different card (watch this space!). I turned the sketch so that I could make a 'tent' card and so that the Forever Friends stickers would fit. From the Doodle Palace list I have chosen Black, Red & Neutral/Letters & Numbers. My neglected stash are the FF Stickers/Peel-Offs and the Black Swivelly Things (don't know what they are called). For the 'Flap' I have made 'a card on a card' which opens up as you can see in the second picture. The corners were punched out using a small circle punch.

Beautiful Butterflies

Challenges

Our Creative Corner - Beautiful Butterflies
One Stop Craft (76) - Things With wings

Here is a quick little card I did using my 'Flight Of The Butterfly' set/punch. I layered two pieces of cardstock and added a piece of dp to it. I then stamped some flowers and a sentiment onto the dp and tied a ribbon around all the layers before attaching it all to the base card with foam pads. I then stamped and punched the butterflies out and glued them in place with a bit of tacky glue. A very quick card that can be adapted by changing the sentiment. Handy when you need a card in a hurry!

Fab 'N' Funky (19) - Use A Neglected Stamp
Passion For Promarkers (47) - Create Background With Promarkers

I have created the background of this card simply by drawing lines down it using both ends of the pen. I have used buttons instead of the vertical strips on the sketch (I already had lines there). I have embossed the circular mat with the 'swiss dots' cuttlebug folder. The neglected stamp has been coloured with promarkers and chalk and I have added flowersoft to her clothes for the 'touchy feely' part and also a paper rose on her hat.

Yesterday I received my lovely new Promarkers which I won recently on the C.R.A.F.T. challenge. I decided to choose pastel colours as I tend to use pastels quite a bit. I only had the set of skin tones and was rather limited so tended not to use them much at all. Well, today I thought I would have a play with them and this card is the result. Please excuse the shading, I need a lot more practice.

Following the lovely sketch (one I shall use again and again), I first covered my base card with a floral paper. As the paper was just brown and white I coloured bits in with my pens and added glitter glue to the dots, my what a difference! I then wrapped a piece of ribbon around a piece of brown card and attached it to the bottom, adding a punched butterfly (also coloured with the pens). I then coloured my digi stamp using a combination of Promarkers and MLP pens adding glitter glue to the wings and flowers. I then double layered this using Nesties. The stamped sentiments are also double layered. Finally I coloured some flowers with the Promarkers and added pearls to the centres and also the butterfly's body. All in all I am rather pleased with how it all turned out and I think I will be using the Promarkers a lot more from now on.

A Spoonful Of Sugar (98) - One For The Boys

I made this card for a young man who was leaving us at work. I was quite fortunate to find I had this bike decoupage as the young man rode to work on a similar blue bike. So, the bikes are decoupaged, the clothes are stickers mounted onto card and then cut out. The background is a photograph and the sentiment is computer generated.

B-LIME-Y!!!

Challenges

Truly Scrumptious (29) - Sketch (Fly Away)
Creative Inspiration (31) - Lime Green/Black/Flowers

Well! The colour challenge for this one took me right out of my comfort zone! The colour combo does not appeal to me at all, but, that's what a challenge is for, right?

Following the great sketch I layered up the base card with a combination of papers and cardstock (the nearest I could find to lime green). The main flower has just been glittered along with me and the craft room!!! The butterflies have been punched out of hologram paper with my brand new MS punch. The one at the top is double layered while the other two are just stuck on. I finished it off with a few flower gems here and there.

Plate Card

Challenges

Creative Card Crew (47) - Distressed/Aged
Simon Says - It's So Distressing

This is my first attempt at a 'plate card' using a template I bought a few weeks ago. I have also had another go at distressing and I must say I don't think I am any good at it. I prefer my cards looking 'new and clean'. To me I think this just looks a mess. I used distress inks around the edges and on the image and even the flowers, however, looking at this picture I realise I forgot to distress the stand. Oh well, I'll have to do that later..... or.... throw the whole thing in the bin!!!

Together Forever!

Challenges

One Stop Craft (74) - Paper Piecing (Dress)
Sketch Saturday (97) - Sketch
Our Creative Corner - Break Out The Buttons
Delightful Sketches & Challenges - Buttons & Bling
Daring Cardmakers - A Diamond For April
C.R.A.F.T. (44) - Purple & Turquoise
Pollycraft (38) - Anything Goes

I must admit that at first I was rather daunted by the colour challenge of using purple & turquoise together. However, I think this little card has turned out rather nice in the end, mainly, I think because I stuck to the paler shades of the colours.

I rather like my daring little bride in her alternative bridal gown, makes a change from white or ivory don't you think? I stamped the image a second time onto purple pearl paper, glued it onto the first image and added glitter glue to her train. The rest of the image has been coloured with pencils and Sakura Stardust pens, lots of sparkles! I inked around the edges of the image and layered with Nesties. The 'Together Forever' sentiment has been stamped, inked and layered in the same way, adding a couple of diamonds. (I have moved the sentiment UP on the sketch as it didn't look right at the bottom, hope this is ok for the challenge). The flowers also have diamonds in their centres.

On the base I have used the same paper and punched border. I 'iced' a couple of heart buttons and put these either side of the border and added the enormous diamond heart gem to the middle (I never thought I would find a use for such a big gem). I have also added a stamped sentiment which has been inked and layered and attached with foam pads to keep the card upright. I recently found this gorgeous stamp at a craft fair it reads "Two lives & two hearts, joined together in friendship, united forever in love." Aaah! It has fast become a favourite of mine!

Daisy-licious!

Challenges

Paperplay - Sketch
Allsorts (46) - No Design Paper
Cupcake Craft (85) - Make Your Own Flowers

Not a wildly exciting card I must admit, but I did make it at one o'clock this morning when I couldn't sleep. Anyway, as the Allsorts challenge asked for NO design paper, I stamped and embossed my own using an old faithful friend of a daisy stamp. If I remember right, this was one of the very first stamps I bought about six years ago. Nothing like a faithful friend that you can call on in times of need... The main image has been coloured with pencils and the sentiments have been stamped and embossed. Although you can't see them very well the punched butterflies are double ones with the lower one flat and the upper one shaped. I have added glitter glue to their bodies. The flowers are all punched with added glitter glue as well.

Zoomin' Along... LOTV DT Card/Sneak Peek

This week we have a great colour challenge for you on the LOTV Challenge Blog. We want you to use BLUE, SILVER and another colour of your choice. We also have a great prize this week of two stamps kindly given by Laila and Lisa. Check out the other DT members blogs for more sneak peeks, links in sidebar.

I have chosen brown as my other colour as it went well with the image.
The image I have used is another of the soon to be released new designs from Lili Of The Valley. This one is called 'Zoomin' Along' and it looks like my little chappie is zoomin' along up a steep hill, hope he gets to the top... I have coloured the image with a mixture of Promarkers and Sakura Stardust pens as I wanted a blue metallic car. I have used pearl and metallic card throughout as I wanted plenty of shine.
